For more than 10 years I was working in a well-paid and secure 9-5 job. I had great colleagues, financial freedom and I was travelling the world as International Sales Manager. Corporate world loved me and I was quite successful in my busy corporate jobs. I travelled to countries like Indonesia, Uruguay, Finland, Puerto Rico, Malaysia (just to name a few), I visited my lovely clients and signed international distribution contracts worth millions of Euros. Oh and did I mention that I met the man of my life and we decided to get married so no border can separate us anymore?

It seems like a perfect life, right? Well, I guess for many woman aged below 30 this is actually a dream life. However for me it wasn’t. I was unsatisfied with my life, I felt unfulfilled and stuck in a job, working for somebody who had the guts to put his dream of an own business into reality.

Since I was a little girl I was dreaming about having my own business. I wanted to be my own boss and to make my own rules. I have always been this kind of independent woman and the first time I felt really understood was when I listened to the song “Independent Women” from Destiny’s Child. Oh girl, this song was a real game changer for me.

It is my vision that every woman who has this big dream of becoming an entrepreneur can do that and that is the reason why I created my 7 Step Business Creation Process. With this proven and simple step-by-step formula you’ll turn your passion into a business that is a 100 % you.  Ready? Let’s get started.

 

Step 1) Lifestyle & Mindset

Before you start thinking about your business idea, your future clients or how to sell your product or service, you need to open up your mind and find out what you really want from life. It’s essential for the success of your business that you know what you want. Where do you want to live? Do you want to live in a house or an apartment? Do you want to have kids? What kind of clothes do you want to wear? How much money do you need to make to be able to afford your ideal lifestyle?

Those are questions you need to answer before you get started with your business. This is the base for everything. Besides knowing your dream life scenario you need to have the right mindset for being and becoming a successful business owner. Do you believe that you can really make it? Are you convinced that your special and unique gift can change the life of your future clients? Do you have the willpower to actually make it happen? Only when you answer these questions with yes and only when you believe in yourself, others will believe in you and at the end will send you over some money.

 

Step 2) Your Perfect Business Idea

Before starting my own coaching business I was convinced that for starting a business you need to have this one great business idea. A world changing idea that makes millions in the first 2 years.  I have to admit that I really believed that and I was convinced that the best idea will come when the time is ready. And I waited and waited and waited. And guess what? The world changing business idea never showed up.

So, I had to change my entire concept of starting a business. Here is what I did. I took action and started to search for something I could start right away. I did that by creating and using my business success formula that consist of Passion + Strengths + Fun. When you want to start a business and you have no world changing business idea, a very effective way to get started is to analyze yourself and to have a closer look on your own passion and your biggest strengths. Try to find your unique gift to this world and turn this gift into a business.

 

Step 3) Your Ideal Client

“If you cannot turn yourself into the shoes of your customer, you probably should not be in the ad writing business.” Leo Burnett.

This is the same for starting a business. Before you work on your website and on your marketing plan you have to know to whom you are going to sell your service. You have to create this one person who is your ideal client. You have to know his/her dreams, hopes and fears. You have to know this person even better than yourself. You have to know his/her biggest problem and you have to offer a solution to this problem.

Step 4) Create a Product

Your product or your service is the solution to your client’s biggest problem. Simple like that. When you create a product or service you should focus on the result your client wants to achieve. For instance not telling your client how to lose 5 kilos in one month but showing him how she can change her life by getting a super sexy body. Your client actually is not interested in the facts of your product. No, she wants to know the result she gets when she buys from you. Keep that in mind when you create your irresistible product.

 

Step 5) Your best sales person – your website

Usually the website is the first thing your potential clients sees. Very often a person who comes to your website never heard about you before. That is why it is so important to make a good first impression. You never get a second chance for a first good impression, right? The best way how to make a good impression is to be a 100 % you. Show yourself to your client and don’t hide behind an office@ e-mail address. Your client wants you no matter what you sell. The person reading the stuff on your website has to feel understood and connected to you immediately. She has to have the feeling that you can read her mind.

For all that you don’t need a funky and sparkling website. Create a website that shows your personality.  Keep it as simple as possible and focus on your client and how to get her biggest problem solved.

 

Step 6) Your raving fan base: your e-mail list

The best investment in the future of your business is your e-mail list. I always tell my clients that list building is priority number 1 in the first 6 months in business. The best thing that can happen to a business starter is to have a list of people who are interested in the topic he/she is talking about. I mean it’s very unlikely that those people will buy immediately from you when they have just joined your list. But it’s very likely that they buy from when you show them that you’re an expert in your field and that you have the best solution for their problem. Create great content and freebies and give them the possibility to test you. Like that they will sign up for your list, start to get known you, like you, trust you and at the end buy from you.

 

Step 7) Sell it.

In my 7 Step Business Creation Process the selling part comes at the end. You have to gain trust from your subscribers by delivering great content on a regular basis. Don’t be too pushy and try to sell to your potential client too early. It’s very likely that you will push her away. The best part of my 7 Step Process is that at the end you will sell to your client without being salesy. The secret of how to sell your product is to sell it after you have offered a lot of free content. This gives you somehow the right to make an offer to your potential client. And when you have followed my process in the right way you are a 100 % sure that the person on your list needs you in order to solve her biggest problem. Clever, I know.  So deliver great free content, gain trust and then you sell your product. Like that your first paying customer will come easier than you thought.

When you want to start a business you definitely have to follow these steps. The best thing is that my process works for everybody who is willing to make it happen. You don’t need a lot of money or your business idea ready. The only thing you need is to take action.
